A day in early spring

Playing in a tournament Friday night, Clinton High varsity baseball got a combined no-hitter on the mound from Tristan Smaltz (8 strike-outs) and Taylor Bailey to beat Emerald, 5-0.

On Friday afternoon, Presbyterian College and Clinton High School Athletics brought four sports to Clinton.

PC baseball defeated Towson State, 7-5, behind AJ Priaulx 2nd time in 2 games pinch-hit homerun, a 2-run shot in the 6th. Winning pitcher was David Sauer in relief of Tanner Chock, who recorded 7 strike-outs. The series at the Blue Hose baseball diamond continues today and Sunday.

PC women's tennis won 7-0 over North Carolina A&T. Tracy Johnson captured #1 singles, 6-0 5-7 6-2.

Fresno State came roaring back in the 2nd half to claim a 14-10 lacrosse win over the Blue Hose at Old Bailey Stadium. Jess Goergen had 4 goals, and keeper Sophia Cuzzule netted 6 saves. PC lax plays again at home March 5 against Stetson.

In the 1st game of their 1st softball tournament at home, Clinton High defeated Newberry, 15-3. Action continues today at the softball diamond behind Clinton Middle School, North Adair St., with the championship game set for 7 tonight. Red Devil softball will host Laurens, March 7.



Blue Hose baseball is in a long home stand to lead off the 2016 spring season. In addition to this weekend's series against Towson State, PC plays host to Savannah State March 2 and LaSalle March 4-6 at the Blue Hose on-campus baseball diamond. All games are played in the afternoon. In two 3 pm matchups, PC will host NC Central March 15 and Wofford March 16 - the Blue Hose will play @ Clemson, March 22.
